Tanzania’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate slowed in 2017. According to government data, growth for the first three quarters of 2017 stood at 6.8%, down from 7.3% during the same period in 2016. The decline is mainly due to slower growth of services from the supply side and slower expansion of consumption and investment from the demand side. Although Tanzania’s real GDP growth rate is estimated to have slowed, it was the highest in the East African Community (EAC) for 2017.
